History
The Canmore Downtown Business Association was formed in early 2006 to enhance the downtown core, create vibrancy and bring business to its members.
The mandate for the Business Association then was:
The Canmore Downtown BRZ will be a results driven organization made up of local business and property owners who focus on creating a unified voice for a vital economic heart in the community.
The Downtown BRZ shall:
*Be a lobbying group to government, representing the interests of Downtown businesses
*Help improve and beautify the downtown core
*Market and promote the BRZ as a business & shopping area
*Assist with the logistics of human movement within the zone
Over the course of the last few years the Canmore Downtown Business Association has accomplished many of these goals such as the beautifcation of the downtown area. The Canmore Downtown remains a voice for its members as well as creator of vibrancy in the core.
Our mandate is: "To create a vibrant and busy downtown"
We hope you enjoy the heart of Canmore!

Downtown Enhancement
When the Downtown Business Association was first formed its prime directive was to enhance and beautify the downtown core. In cooperation with the Town of Canmore this has been accomplished and the heart of Canmore is a beautiful place to be.
As a part of the Downtown Enhancement Project started in 1998 the BRZ, in cooperation with the Town of Canmore and the BRZ members purchased new benches, bike racks, light standards, information pedestals and trees for the core area.Enhancements took place in 2006 & 2007 and are still on going.
Information Pedestals
The Town of Canmore purchased two information pedestals in conjunction with the 7th Avenue referbishment project in 2009. They are located at 8th Avenue and Main Street and in front of Tourism Canmore/Kananaskis on 7th Avenue. Downtown Canmore has recently purchased a third pedestal which is now located on the corner of 6th Avenue and Main Street.
New mapping panels have been installed to help visitors and locals easily locate businesses in the Downtown Core.
